La Galería Universitaria, ubicada en el edificio de Rectoría de la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEM), guarda entre sus paredes los secretos plasmados en la plástica de Federico Cantú.

Pintor, grabador, muralista y escultor, Cantú nació en Nuevo León en 1907. Fue en 1922 cuando se unió a la Escuela de Pintura al Aire Libre dirigida por Alfredo Ramos Martínez, cuyas ideas originales incrementaron su educación. En contraste con otros artistas, su estilo siguió una línea académica que aplicó también a la pintura mural, la escultura y el grabado, entre otras disciplinas.

El contenido histórico y religioso de su trabajo fue desarrollado a través de una técnica de dibujo de excelente calidad. A lo largo de su vida trató de encontrarse a sí mismo a través de una búsqueda doble: existencial y artística.
